Q: I am a writer, or want to be a writer, and need some help getting going or keeping focused. Your website has a lot of good information, but what else can Pikes Peak Writers do for me?
A: We're happy that you found us! Writing is a solitary and challenging vocation. Interaction with other writers, who deal with the same issues and concerns, is paramount in being able to overcome challenges like writer's block, meeting deadlines, craft skills, and discipline. Pikes Peak Writers can help in several ways, and browsing our site is a good place to start.
1) Pikes Peak Writers Conference: This annual conference (April 25-27 this year) brings a nationally recognized faculty, and opportunities to meet literary agents from across the country. You can also get an appointment to read for agents from major publishing houses. For more information on the conference. See the articles on our home page for a link to the conference brochure and registration forms. You don't have to be a member to attend the conference, but members receive discounts, and early enrollment (which can be a great help in getting the appropriate editor or agent appointment.)
2) Our NewsMagazine comes out six times per year and contains writing advice, contact information, craft book reviews and much, much more. The NewsMagazine is only available to PPW members. You can see samples by clicking the NewsMag link on the top menu of our website.
3) Monthly Write Brain sessions and Seasonal Workshops. These are great opportunities to work with craft experts, published authors and more. In addition, they chances to meet and share with other PPW members. The Write Brains are free to members, and members receive discounts to the Seasonal Workshops.
4) The Pikes Peak Writers Forum is a part of our website that allows you to interact and connect with other members and staff. Select the Forum link on the top menu.
5) Approximately 500 fellow writers anxious to help you become the writer you want to be!
