2009 Chris Mandeville - PPW Volunteer of the Year
Friday, 01 May 2009 08:26
Chris Mandeville's absolute devotion to Pikes Peak Writers is amazing. She works like a dog for PPW, not only in her former position as President and current positions as Treasurer and Community Liaison, but also on a dizzying variety of behind-the-scenes tasks. Examples included doing an inventory on the PPW bookstore, holding holiday book sales, painting and organizing the new PPW office at Cottonwood, hosting volunteer retreats at her home, teaming with Ruh to raise funds, and so much more. She is always looking for ways to grow our group by helping and reaching out to as many writers as possible. It's obvious that Chris deeply cares about the organization, and she deserves our utmost gratitude.

2006 Winner Dawn Smit Miller
Dawn Smit Miller has put a great deal of time and energy in to the Paul Gillette Writing Contest to bring it up to the level it is today. She took the existing procedures and greatly improved and automated them by adding VIP judges, developing judges' training, uploading helpful documents to the web site for both judges and entrants, and establishing a detailed procedure for conducting the contest and documented it for future coordinators. We are proud to recognize Dawn Smit Miller as our Pikes Peak Writers Volunteer of the Year for 2007.

2006 Winner Jennifer Webster-Valant
Jennifer Webster-Valant started volunteering for PPW as the Transportation Coordinator about four years ago and did such a fabulous job that we asked her to be our Treasurer. As Treasurer, she is reliable, responsive, open-minded, practical and visionary. She has also steered us successfully through a potential budget crisis and taken on many responsibilities that don't fall within her job description--always with a smile on her face. We are proud to recognize Jennifer-Webster Valant as our Pikes Peak Writers Volunteer of the Year for 2006.
