Pikes Peak Writers, a Colorado 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is committed to provide you with useful information, that may be tailored to your specific needs. This website is designed to meet the information requirements of both our organization’s members, and the general viewing public. Our intent in adopting this privacy policy is to meet the requirements of providing a level of member exclusivity, while preserving your reasonable expectations of privacy.
Your information:
Pikes Peak Writers Members:
When you become a member of Pikes Peak Writers, the membership information you provide is not stored in any part on our website, or in any database outside of our administrative offices. In order to grant you access to the member components of the website, and the Forums, a user id will be assigned, and we will maintain your name, user id and email address on our website database. Email addresses will not be visible to anyone other than system administrators and Forum moderators. This information is collected only when knowingly provided.
Pikes Peak Writers Member Volunteers:
In addition to the name, user id and email address stored as part of membership, we may retain contact and scheduling information necessary for volunteer coordination. This information will be available only to the volunteer coordinator and specific group managers (moderators) for the purpose of coordination of efforts and communication of task assignments. This information is collected only when knowingly provided.
Site Visitors:
Our server statistics will maintain an IP address. No personally identifying information is gathered or retained.
Third Parties:
We do not share any information, personal or otherwise, with third party organizations or advertisers.
Cookies:
Our website uses temporary cookies (session cookies) to maintain connections while you are logged in to our website or Forums. These temporary cookies do not contain any personally identifying information and exist only for a single session. We do not retain any other information in cookies of any type.
E-Mail Communications:
The e-mail address gathered as part of Pikes Peak Writers membership registration is used for the following:
1. Contact with members regarding membership status and renewals.
2. Contact with members regarding access to the Pikes Peak Writers website and Forums.
3. Distribution of electronic copies of the Pikes Peak Writers NewsMagazine, when requested by members.
4. Communications regarding volunteer activites.
5. Distribution of a periodic newsletter, available to members and affiliated organizations on an opt-in subscription basis. Subscriptions are not automatic, and may be started or cancelled at any time.
Yahoo Mail Groups:
Pikes Peak Writers currently utilizes Yahoo! Groups for newsgroups and e-mail loops. These groups are all subject to the privacy policies of Yahoo Inc. and not related to the policies of Pikes Peak Writers.
Our future direction is to phase out Yahoo groups in favor of the internal messaging capabilities of our Forums.
Pikes Peak Writers Forums:
Our Forums are provided for communications between members of Pikes Peak Writers. The Forums provide internal messaging that allow members to communicate without revealing personal information other than name. Our Forums also contain regularly updated notices to our members regarding personal privacy and information security.
Special Provisions Regarding the Safety of Children on the Internet:
We do not electronically collect information from anyone under the age of 18 years old. Pikes Peak Writers actively engages in youth programs in association with local schools, libraries and other organizations. The publicly viewable content of our website and Forums is edited prior to publication and is suitable for all ages.
